Cameron R. Cox. ASID Allied Member, used to scavenge scraps of wood and other materials left over from Gulf Coast job sites she'd visit with her father, a builder. When she was in the fifth grade, she used the scraps to build a 6' x 6' house between her family's home and the house next door-and then decorated it. That little project foretold her future in the home design field.
In 1983, Cameron and a friend opened Key Places, an interior design business in Siesta Key. Four years later, Cameron went out on her own with the launch of Cameron Interiors. Today, Cameron Cox Interiors oversees interior design projects from Sarasota, Siesta Key and Bradenton, to Boston, Ohio, Connecticut and Tennessee.
Though Cameron is open to a full range of design aesthetics, she considers her signature a blend between traditional, electric and nautical. "I handpick everything from my clients like I would for myself. I like to shop locally, especially since we have a lot of great antique stores, art galleries, consignment shops and an architectural salvage." She gleans inspiration from her clients' favorite possessions, and from happy, uplifting color combinations.
Cameron is one designer who truly appreciates the surrounding in which she lives and works. "I'm always out enjoying the environment. That's how I lie to meet my clients."
